Overview
The Story gamemode is the primary progressive mode in Anime Expeditions. Each stage in Story uses a themed map & enemies, appearing as a floating island within the story select menu. Within each Story stage are 5 Acts (levels), 1 Mastery Act, and an Infinite Mode.
- Each act uses a different Enemy pool subdivided from the map's pool, with different modifiers, HP scaling, etc. The HP scaling of Story as a gamemode follows a progressively-increasing trend.
- Each act can be completed in either Normal or Hard mode. Hard mode increases rewards and difficulty.
- A Mastery act consolidates the map's pool into one stage with Hard mode automatically enabled. Through Mastery stages, players can earn various Materials and Equipment.
- A stage's Infinite Mode is a special act that draws from the map's pool into an endless sequence of waves. With the design of the HP formula being uncapped, this mode becomes exponentially harder the longer participants survive.
Story Mode can be played with up to 4 players.
Players can also obtain Trait Rerolls by completing one-time Star Missions. A Star Mission is a custom per-act objective that provides the player with a clear condition to fulfill. Each mission (or Star) grants the player a single trait reroll. Star Missions are available for both Normal and Hard mode, granting a total of 6 rerolls per Act.
